As handsome as ever, the new-look version
of Unison Researchs single-ended class-A S6 integrated amp ($4995) is less swoopy
and more techie, the semi-matte-black upper section contrasting nicely with the orange
woodwork. The tube array includes three EL34s and an ECC82/12AU7 per channel, for an
output of around 35Wpc. The unit accepts five line-level sources.

More
stealthy-looking than the S6, Unison Researchs single-ended class-A S9 integrated
($11,900) offers similar power and one less line input, but it uses two SV572-10 and two
ECC82/12AU7 tubes per channel. |
