experience of real systems and actual situations to illustrate their approach in detail,
both in terms of the order in which they tackle the issues and the destination at which
they arrive. In each case, the costs of the system and the steps taken are detailed so
that you can appreciate relative expenditure and you’ll note that in some cases, this
challenges accepted wisdom. We’ve heard the benefits and they’re not hard to
demonstrate so our advice is the same as always: suck it and see. If you don’t hear
the improvement then don’t pay the cash, but – don’t be surprised if you
are surprised, and remember that sometimes it takes a sideways step to move forward, so
always go one stage further before you give up.
