Gamma and Theta: The Latest Cables from Shunyata Research
hunyata Research will soon reach a milestone, 25 years in business, and, as a way to celebrate, the company has released two new comprehensive series of audio cables, Gamma and Theta. Both include the full complement of products -- digital/data to speaker cables, with all stops in between. All are "eminently affordable" and feature the "latest advancements in conductor science," according to Shunyata. Both Gamma and Theta cables have conductors that feature Shunyata's Precision Matched Impedance process, which slows extrusion down to one-quarter normal. This is said to "tighten the tolerances of conductor surfaces, dielectric extrusion and the precision of the braided shield." Both Gamma and Theta feature Ohno Continuous Cast Copper conductors, custom connectors and terminals, cold-welded connections, and Shunyata's Kinetic Phase Inversion Process (KPIP), which conditions the conductors so the cables sound as they should right out of the box, without the normal days to weeks of break-in time. When used as a full set or "loom," from source to speakers, signal and power, the Gamma and Theta cables provide performance that "rivals some of the world's most expensive cables," yet their prices are far, far below the cost of such cables. The prices and models are: Gamma RCA interconnects, $398/meter pair Theta RCA interconnects, $998/meter pair |
