Göbel High End's New Divin Comtesse

by The Audio Beat | August 1, 2024

öbel High End calls its new Divin Comtesse (€59,000 per pair, including VAT) a "small-sized floorstanding speaker," at 40"H x 12"W x 17 3/4"D and 165 pounds. Göbel began working on a more compact floorstanding model within its Divin line in order to address the needs of audiophiles with smaller and narrower rooms but who "are looking for the best possible loudspeaker solution for their setup." The three-way Divin Comtesse features an 8" proprietary long-throw woofer, an 8" proprietary midrange, and a "significantly improved" Mundorf AMT high-frequency driver with an aluminum wave guide that has "a proprietary curve progression." The bass-reflex "acoustically optimized" cabinet uses constrained-layer damping, extensive internal bracing, and 50mm-thick walls. It is also tropical proof, meaning it can withstand humid climates. The speaker's sensitivity is quoted as 89dB/W/m, its frequency response is 28Hz-28kHz, and its impedance is 4 ohms nominal and 3.3 ohms minimum at 100Hz.

The Divin Comtesse may be a smaller speaker, but its design goals are large. Göbel says about it, "Our goal is to really bring music alive!" and "To manufacture real statement products, which bring the ultimate real emotional music experience."
