Furutech Gives Audio Cables Another Boost
he Furutech NCF Booster has rapidly become an indispensible piece of system-setup kit, essential to getting the best out of the systems we work with. But while there’s no arguing with the performance benefits -- which are shockingly apparent -- the price, at $215 each, looks steep. Furutech has just announced a lower-rise and more affordable version of the NCF Booster Signal, the Booster Signal L, priced at around $160. Using the same uprights, all-important cable interface and a simplified base, NCF Booster Signal L looks like a no-brainer money-saver for anybody considering the NCF Booster products. Not a cable riser in the conventional
sense, the NCF Booster Signal works on the static and charge effects that
bedevil audio cables, as well as provides mechanical damping. But be
careful, because it’s easy to get too much of a good thing. Hoist your
cables on multiple NCF Boosters and not only will you have something that
resembles the elevated highway through the Florida Keys, you’ll kill the sound of
your system. In fact,
we’ve generally achieved superb results using a single NCF Booster Signal per cable under speaker leads or long interconnects. The new Booster Signal L promises to deliver those
performance benefits at a lower price point, while remaining compatible with
all the other NCF Booster options and accessories, which can only be good
news. |
