Speakers
for "quasi home theater"

Marc,
I
have set up a quasi-home-theater system, I'm using Quad 12Ls as front speakers and a
B&W center-channel speaker -- just those three. Does mixing the two brands really
matter? This system is strictly used for TV and movies.

While
maintaining uniformity in sound across the right, left and center channels is preferable,
so there is no distracting tonal discontinuity, I'm not nearly as much of a stickler about
home theater (even though I have a large movie collection) as I am about two-channel
audio. For me, the video display is lion's share of the experience, and with limited
space, I still use the two decent speakers that are attached to my Pioneer Elite plasma
monitor, along with a Paradigm subwoofer, not a dedicated home-theater speaker system. So
if what you hear with your Quad and B&W speakers sounds good to you, that's what
matters most. - Marc Mickelson
