Depending
on the person you talk to, cryogenic treatment of tubes (and other audio products,
including cables) is either necessary, intriguing but unproven, or of no sonic value. For
tubes, I would be leery, unless the maker of your equipment actively promotes it, in which
case I would buy the tubes from that company. If you're not sure what the company's stance
is on cryogenic treatment of tubes, ask. You can also experiment with a purchase, in which
case I would suggest starting with inexpensive preamp or amplifier input tubes and not
more expensive matched output tubes. -Marc Mickelson
