"I
absolutely love your site, but, damn . . ."

Marc,
I
absolutely love your site, but, damn, the equipment reviews are so few and far
between: September 29 and October 14 (nice spread), then December 16 and April 23? I hope
neither you nor others are sick or whatever, but, geez, I'd like to see something more
often (and I say that with the utmost respect, as I truly appreciate your site).

I'm
glad you like the site. It's a lot of work, which is the reason our published output
varies from month to month. Equipment reviews especially require a lot of work -- to write
them, to edit them and to proof them, not to mention the listening. We sweat the details,
and that means we don't post just anything. We're all well here, but sometimes life
circumstances interfere with getting assignments completed in a timely, regular manner. I
know this better than anyone. But thank you for the gentle nudge and encouragement. They
will stay in my mind. -Marc Mickelson
One
Step Sketches of Spain

Marc,
Have
you heard about this?
"You
are receiving this email because an item you preordered has been changed. MOFI is no
longer doing this One Step [Miles Davis's Sketches of Spain] on 2x 45rpm LPs. It
is going to be a 33rpm single One Step LP."
I
wasn't going to get the One Step because of the tracks' length, but I will now that it's a
33 and not 45. I wish they would have done that for Marvin Gayes' What's Going On.

Yes,
I heard about it. It's probably hard to break the cuts in a way that they fit on four
sides, especially the well-known first cut, "Concierto de Aranjuez," which, at
over 16 minutes, is too long to fit on a single side at 45rpm. And who would want to hear
that with a break in the middle? -Marc Mickelson
