"I
just wanted to share..."

Marc,
First
and foremost, I wish you a joyous, peaceful holiday. All the best to you and yours.
I
just wanted to share that I stumbled across my first audio system. I forgot it was there
in the basement.

Back
in the day, it sounded pretty good. Of course, at 10:00 every night, it was on to the
tuner of the HK receiver to listen to Alison Steele at WNEW 102.7 FM -- "the night
bird." Where have those days gone? Perhaps the world was a tad kinder and gentler
then.

Your
first system was better than mine (this includes the Sound Design all-in-one with
"full-range" speakers that I bought at Kmart when I was 13). My first system
was, as I recall, a Scott receiver, a BSR turntable and AAL speakers, all bought from
American TV -- an early and sadly defunct appliance and electronics superstore in my
hometown of Madison, WI). I think I paid $229 for the whole thing, and I set about
upgrading within a year.
As
for "Where have those days gone?" I don't have an answer. But I will point out
that I was listening to LPs then and I still am now. So maybe the more things change, the
more they really do stay the same. -Marc Mickelson
