Something
missing from Giant Steps?

Marc,
Well,
I bought both of the My Favorite Things releases and love
them. And yes, I bit the bullet and got the Atlantic/Rhino Giant Steps reissue
[Atlantic/Rhino R1 512581] for about $250 total.
There
is one thing that I found odd about Giant Steps. There is no booklet or any
production notes, just the Downbeat review insert and one of the labels --what
for? Is there any chance the seller lost the extras? With such a nice package, how can
they leave out a booklet or at least the production info? Heck, even My Favorite
Things, which has a flimsy jacket, has a nice booklet. (I always hated its cover, but
the back is great.)

My
copy of the 45rpm two-LP Giant Steps, which Bernie Grundman mastered and RTI
pressed, in an edition of 2500, came with only the reprint of the Downbeat review
and a sheet of facsimile labels. No booklet or other printed materials. The sleeve, which
fits into the slipcase, is heavy and nicely printed, however. -Marc Mickelson
