Dietrich Brakemeier of Acoustical Systems always seems to turn up at Munich with a new gadget or two. In the past, these have included his outstanding protractors for turntable setup.

This time he was showing a new tool for quick checks of cartridge alignment -- almost everything other than stylus position. It even allows a check of cantilever angle without a microscope. None of these checks has the type of precision that a full-blown protractor would provide, but the tool is nice nonetheless. We’re looking forward to trying it. The price in the US is expected to be $150 to $200.
