Even though displayed on either side of a gigantic 1920s Western Electric cinema horn, the GIP Laboratory 9700A field-coil speaker system (€167,000) hardly looked small: each speaker stands around six feet tall. The three-way system is inspired by the Western Electric Mirrophonic and contains the 9101 high-frequency compression driver, 9501 horn tweeter and 9461 18" woofer. Although listening at shows tells you nothing beyond good vs. awful, the effect of these horns was, shall we say, "stirring" and amusing. I would love to see the room that could house a pair of the vintage Western Electrics.
