John McDonald of Audience holds one of the
A3 drivers used for his company's growing line of ClairAudient speakers.

The 3" driver has a cone made of an
aluminum-magnesium composite and an oversized motor. John told us he has measured output
from the driver up to 22kHz, with some energy down to 20Hz.

The new ClairAudient 4+4 Advance
($12,300/pair) uses four A3 drivers in front and in back, along with a pair of passive
radiators and no crossovers. The speaker is shown with Audience's bipolar passive
subwoofer (left, $3200) and prototype mono amplifier (right).![](../images/tab_icon_end.jpg) |
