The Gem ($4799) is the least expensive of three TTWeights turntables, each a massive combination of wood and machined metal. Its rim-drive DC motor is servo controlled, and its outboard armpod supports the tonearm in a fashion completely decoupled from the turntable and motor. TTWeights got its name from the nicely machined record weights it began selling a few years ago, but with the Gem the company makes a bold first move into the mid-priced turntable market.
